Waku
Foundation Nepal (Nepal) is a registered nonprofit organization
- operating under the rules and regulations of Nepal.
Waku
Foundations aim is to help improve the level of education
and health in Waku village.
Waku
Foundation is run by volunteers, who come from the village, and are concerned
as to the present situation and future of our village and its people.
There
is very limited access to health care, no electricity, and a poor school
building and reduced teaching staff.
Waku
Foundation had started work on improving both education and health, when the
village was hit by two giant earthquakes in the spring of 2015.
1500
houses were totally or partly destroyed, as was the school.
Waku Foundation, together with both Nepali and foreign friends, has purchased land for the
poorest families, as their houses were built on land that has subsided/disappeared in a
landslide. We have erected a temporary school shelter - and are in the process of
evaluating future building (mainly for the very poorest in the village).
